Set Recording Speed To Sp On A Magnavox Vcr

Set video recording speed to SP for best tape quality when recording on a Magnavox VCR.

The recording speed on a Magnavox VCR can be adjusted for longer recording times on a VHS cassette tape, effectively creating more room on the cassette. Standard Play (SP) is the normal recording speed, which will capture programming with best video and audio quality. Long Play (LP) doubles the recording time of a standard two-hour cassette, and Super Long Play (SLP) triples the recording time. However, picture and sound quality will diminish when recording at slower speeds. Setting the speed takes only a second with the Magnavox remote control.

Instructions

1. Turn on the Magnavox VCR and the TV. Insert a blank VHS tape in the front gate of the VCR.

2. Press the "Tape Speed" button on the Magnavox remote control repeatedly to switch among tape speeds. The TV screen will display the speed setting in the upper right-hand corner as SP, LP or SLP. Release the button when SP appears on screen.

3. Set the VCR to the desired channel for recording. Press "Record" on the remote control to capture video in standard speed on the VHS tape.
