Create A Digital Photo Book That I Can Print

Photo books are steadily replacing traditional photo albums. People prefer not to struggle with loose photos anymore, but rather create professional looking books. The benefit of creating your own digital photo book is that you can add decorations and text to the pages, and design your own photo collages, without messing with scissors and glue. Many photo printing companies can print and bind your photo book professionally to look just like a real coffee-table book.

Instructions

1. Obtain photo book software from your closest printing company. Many photo and printing shops will supply you with the software CD for free or for a minor fee. Download the software directly from the company's website if you don't feel like going to the shop. Sites like Photobook America, Photo Works, and Smile Books allow you to download their software and will deliver your photo book to your doorstep.

2. Install the software. If you install from a CD, the installation process will start automatically, with the program asking your permission to install. Click "yes." The installation wizard will now perform the installation. Double-click on the file you downloaded to install a file from one of the website. Yet again you will be guided through the installation.

3. Open the program and start creating your photo book. Choose a photo book size. A square layout will allow easy arrangement of photos, as you can position both vertical and horizontal photos easily on a square page.

4. Import your photos. Many photo book programs will prompt you to select all the photos you want to use in the book, and arrange it for you automatically. You will then be able to change the layout.

5. Select a background. Photo book software usually features a wide range of colors and textures you can use for the album background.

6. Drag and drop photos from your gallery onto the page and arrange it as you like it. Most photo book software will automatically open the images used in the sidebar, so you simply need to click on the photos you want and drag it into position. Click on "layouts" if you want to choose a preset layout for the page.

7. Add decorations or text to the pages. Click on the "T" icon to add text and start typing. Decorations come in the form of stickers or photo frames and special effects you can add to your photos. Choose "effects" or "decorations" from the menu. Click on the photo you want to add an effect to then click on the decoration or photo frame. Loose decorations like stickers can be dragged and dropped into place.

8. Click on "Order" as soon as you are done with the layout of your photo book. Choose "Online Ordering" if you want to have the book delivered to you. The program will automatically connect you to the printing company's site and guide you through the order.

Click on "Burn to CD" if you want to have the book printed by a printing company close to you. The program will automatically prepare the photo book for it to be printed. Insert a CD in your CD writer and click "Burn."
