Repair The Bose 321 Dvd Tray

Repair the Bose 3-2-1 DVD Tray

The DVD tray in the Bose 3-2-1 entertainment system can become stuck from loose dirt and other contaminants that have gotten into the chassis. To repair the DVD tray, remove the contaminants that are keeping it from exiting the chassis. A few supplies found around the home will be needed, but no special tools or equipment.

Instructions

1. Unplug the power cord from the Bose 3-2-1 amplifier module. Straighten out a paperclip with your fingers. Insert an end of the paperclip into the hole beneath the bezel on the front of the Bose 3-2-1 amplifier module. Push in on the paperclip until a click is heard -- normally the tray would pop out but not when it is stuck, as is the case here.

2. Insert the tip of a flat-edged jeweler's screwdriver between the chassis and the left side of the tray. Push the tip into the seam. Pull the tip back towards you to force the side of the tray out of the chassis. Repeat this procedure on the right side of the tray.

3. Grip the front edge of the tray with the needle-nose pliers. Pull the tray all the way out of the front of the amplifier module. Remove any disc that might be on the tray.

4. Blow off the top of the tray with a burst of compressed air. Repeat this on both sides of the tray.

5. Moisten an edge of a soft cloth with lens cleaning solution. Place the moistened edge in the groove on the left side of the chassis, facing the side of the tray. Push the edge away from you along the length of the groove until you reach the back end. Remove the cloth. Repeat this procedure with another edge of the cloth moistened in the lens cleaning solution and the groove on the chassis that is at the right side of the tray.

6. Dip a cotton swab in light machine oil. Place the moistened swab into the groove on the left side of the chassis facing the tray. Push the swab away from you along the length of the groove until you reach the back end. Remove the swab. Repeat this procedure with another swab in the groove on the right side of the chassis facing the tray.

7. Push the tray back into the chassis of the amplifier module until only about a third is still on the outside. Pull the tray back towards you until it is fully extended. Push the tray all the way into the chassis. Plug the power cord back in.
