Disable An Advanced Zoom Chip

Many consumer level digital cameras have an "advanced zoom" chip inside their case that supplements the existing physical zoom on the unit's lens. If you've ever zoomed in all the way on something you're trying to photograph only to see the image get pixelated and blurry, this is the "advanced zoom" chip at work. Fortunately, you can disable this feature through your camera's settings menu.

Instructions

1. Turn on your digital camera.

2. Press the "Menu" button on the top or back of your digital camera. This will bring up the on-screen menu on the LCD viewfinder screen.

3. Enter the "Setup" menu on your camera. Some cameras will call this "Settings" or "Preferences," depending on the specific camera.

4. Open the "Zoom" settings menu. This menu will be called "Zoom" or something similar.

5. Select "Digital Zoom," and then select the "Disable" option. Some cameras will label this option "Turn Off." This will disable the advanced zoom chip on your camera.
