Sony Tc355 Instructions

The TC-355 can play audio recorded on tape reels.

The Sony TC-355 is a reel-to-reel audio tape player and recorder manufactured in Japan in 1969 and 1970. It is powered with an alternating current supply (AC) at 100, 110, 117, 125, 220 and 240 volts. The table-mounted unit comes in a wooden frame and measures 15.2 by 7.1 by 14 inches.

Instructions

1. Plug in the TC-355 to an AC power source.

2. Attach the taped quarter-inch reel to the left side of the player, looking down at it. Run the tape through the reader below and up to the receiving reel on the other side. Sides can be flipped and the reverse side of the tape can be played as well. This machine can play reels between three- and seven-inch reels.

3. Select a play speed from the three speeds available; 1 7/8, 3 3/4, and 7 1/2 inches per second (ips).

4. Attach headphones or speakers to the tape deck, as it has no way of releasing sound otherwise. It will attach to any stereo that has auxiliary RCA input jacks. It could also attach to a computer sound-card to record tracks to the hard-drive.

5. Record via a plug-in microphone if desired.
