Fix The Convergence On A 42inch Bigscreen Tv

Big-screen TVs are an essential part of any good home-theater system. While most newer HDTVs have LCD (liquid crystal display) or plasma screen technology, older models use cathode ray tubes (CRT)-three separate tubes that control the red, green and blue divisions of the picture. When these tubes fall out of alignment, the display will show discolorations and a "halo" around objects on screen. Fixing the convergence can be done in a few simple steps, allowing you to enjoy your favorite TV programs in perfect clarity again.

Instructions

1. Determine if your model has an "Auto Convergence" feature, either on the front panel or in the video settings, accessed by pressing "Menu" on the remote. If so, press that to start the convergence process.

2. If your TV doesn't have auto convergence, or if that didn't fix the problem, look again on the front panel-some models will have a button marked "Convergence" or "Convergence Adjust." If so, press that to begin. Otherwise, press "Menu" on the remote control to go into the video settings and find the "Convergence" option.

3. See the convergence adjustment feature on the screen. Each model may have its own method of adjustment, and all should have clearly marked cues to follow.

4. Use the arrow keys on the TV or the remote to adjust and align each of the colors to a specific point on the screen. Press "OK" at the end of each one to move on to the next.

5. Press the "OK" or "Menu" button when finished to save the new settings. If the picture hasn't improved, the unit may be in need of repair.
