Use A Canon Ef 75300mm Lens

Digital camera lens.

Unlike fixed lens cameras, digital single lens reflex cameras (DSLR) provide users the benefit of being able to select specific lenses for specific purposes. The current generation of DSLR cameras produced by Canon use lenses designated as EF indicating that they use an electronic focusing system built into the camera bodies. The EF 75-300mm lens is a medium length telephoto zoom lens.

Instructions

1. Digital SLR camera with lens mounted.

Mount the lens on your camera body after first removing the screw-on plastic caps that cover the lens mount opening on the front of the camera body and the and the camera mount fitting on the rear of the lens. To attach the lens, locate the small red dot on the rear of the lens and align it with the small red dot on the camera body which should be located near the top of the lens mount opening. With these red dots aligned, the lens should fit easily into the camera body opening. With the lens pressed into the camera body opening, firmly turn the lens clockwise until you hear and feel it snap into the locked position in the camera body. The camera and lens are now united and ready to use.

2. Set your camera's aperture, shutter speed and ISO as you would for any lens and camera body combination. No special settings are required for the EF 75-300mm lens. Your settings will depend on lighting conditions, the speed of the action you are photographing and your artistic preferences.

3. Select the auto focus mode by sliding the auto focus switch, located on the lens close to where it mounts to the camera, to the AF position. This switch also allows you to select manual focus mode by sliding the switch to M. Because focus is achieved automatically with the EF series of lenses, there are no focus adjustments that you need to make when using the lens in the auto focus mode.

4. Zoom in and out by turning the zoom adjustment ring on the lens to the left or right. Your EF 75-300mm lens will have two rubber rings wrapped around the lens barrel one of which will be for adjusting the zoom throughout its focal length range of 75-300mm. The second ring is for adjusting focus and will be used only when in the manual focus mode. A good rule of thumb is to zoom in or out until the object you are photographing fills the entire frame of your photograph.

5. Hold your camera with one hand supporting the lens.

Hold the camera steady by placing one hand underneath the lens and the other holding the camera body and activating the shutter. Because the EF 75-300mm lens is a somewhat large and heavy telephoto lens, proper support is important.

6. Gently press shutter button and take your photograph.
