Components Of An Olympus Ckx41 Microscope

The Olympus CKX line of inverted microscopes includes the CXK31 and CKX41 models. The CKX41 microscope is a specialized scientific microscope for checking cell viability in Petri dishes, culture flasks and multi-well plates. The CKX41's features make it suitable for applications in areas such as tissue culture and embryology, immunology and pharmacology. The device's size allows for installation beside incubators to reduce specimen transport times and improve safety. The Olympus CKX41 also includes capabilities for digital imaging and video monitoring.

Observation Tube

The CKX41 has a binocular tube inclined at 30 degrees, adjustable to an incline of 60 degrees, with an interpupillary distance adjustable between 48 and 75 mm. The observation tube allows diopter adjustment via the helicoid on the tube's left sleeve. Depending on the configuration of the particular microscope, the observation tube may tilt to enable ergonomic positioning for sitting and standing observation.

Focus

The CKX41 includes a fixed-stage vertical nosepiece movement, a tension adjustment mechanism for coaxial coarse and fine focus, and a roller slide mechanism. The device's stroke range is 7 mm up and 2 mm down from focus position, which is 1 mm above the stage.

Stage

The CKX41's stage, on which the specimen rests, is 160 mm long and 250 mm wide, with attachable stage clips. The device incorporates an exchangeable insert plate with a 25 mm opening.

Illuminator

The CKX41 illuminator is composed of a 6-volt, 30-watt halogen bulb. Depending on the configuration, the device may include a fluorescence illuminator, a dual slider for blue and green excitation cubes and a 50-watt mercury system.

Specimen

The CKX41 includes a pre-centered slider to reduce configuration time and eliminate the need for adjustments, with a ring slit standardized for 10x, 20x and 40x magnifications. The CKX41 may include a glass stage insert that provides quick recognition of objective lenses.

Base

The CKX41 has a small, triangular base. The device's power supply enables continuous intensity adjustment and has a built-in voltage changeover switch (for switching between 100/120 volts and 220/240 volts) operating at a frequency of 50 to 60 Hertz.

Optical System

The CKX41 uses the UIS2 (Universal Infinity-corrected) optical system with wavefront aberration control and neutral color reproduction technology to enable optimal image delivery. The UIS2 video adapters enable magnifications at 0.25x, 0.35x and 0.5x.
