Program A Dish Remote To Control A Dvd Player

Many Dish Networks remote controls can be programmed to operate other devices in your home entertainment setup. You can reduce clutter by programming your TV and DVD's infrared commands into the Dish remote. There are two ways to do it--either program the remote using existing equipment code tables found in the instruction guide (see Resources), or scan for codes.

Instructions

1. Turn the DVD player on.

2. Find the brand name of the DVD in the Dish remote's instruction guide (see Resources). If it exists in the list follow the following instructions. If it doesn't, skip steps 3-6 and start at Step 7.

3. Press and hold the "AUX" mode button until all the other mode buttons illuminate. Let go of the button and the AUX button will flash. Press the numeral "1".

4. Press the three-digit code adjacent to the brand into the remote and press "Pound" and then the "Hash" button.

5. Press the "Power" button. The equipment should turn off. Play with some other buttons and if they respond as they should, stop here.

6. Repeat steps 3 to 5 with any other codes that are adjacent to the brand name if the remote doesn't respond,.

7. Perform a scan for codes if this fails. Turn the DVD player on. Press and hold the "AUX" mode button until all the other mode buttons illuminate. Let go of the button and the "AUX" button will flash.

8. Press the numeral 1 plus the star button. Press "Power".

9. Press the "Up" or the "Down" arrow repeatedly until the DVD player turns off.

10. Press the "Pound" or "Hash" button.
