Transfer Items From An Sd Card To An Sd Card

Although not as common as USB flash drives, SD cards are a more versatile type of storage medium for use with PCs. With a simple card reader that costs under $10, you can use a SD card on your PC just as you would a USB flash drive. Additionally, many other portable devices that do not support USB flash drives --like Blackberries and most cell phones -- support SD cards. If you need to copy files from one SD card to another, Windows provides a couple of relatively simple ways of doing so.

Instructions

1. Connect the small end of the USB cable to the card reader. Connect the flat end of the cable to an empty USB port on the computer. Wait for Windows to initialize the card reader for use on your computer.

2. Insert the SD card that contains the data you want to copy into the card reader. Wait for Windows to detect and configure the SD card as removable storage device on your PC.

3. Click "Start," then "Computer." Click "Desktop" in the left pane of the "Computer" window. Click "New Folder" on the toolbar. Type "temp_copy" or something similar of your choice in the "New Folder" name box. Press the "Enter" key to change the name of the folder.

4. Navigate to the drive letter associated with the connected SD card in "Computer." Double-click the drive letter to view the contents of the SD card. Press the "Ctrl" + "A" keys to select all the files and folders on the SD card. Press the "Ctrl" + "C" keys to copy them to the Windows Clipboard.

5. Go back to the "temp_copy" folder on the desktop. Open the folder, and then press the "Ctrl" + "V" keys. Windows copies all the files and folders from the SD card to the new folder.

6. Eject the SD card from the card reader. Wait a few seconds, and then insert the second SD card. Wait while Windows configures the second SD card.

7. Open the "temp_copy" folder on the Windows desktop, press the "Ctrl" + "A" keys, then "Ctrl" + "C." Windows copies the files and folders to the Clipboard.

8. Click "Start," and then "Computer." Open the SD card in "Computer," and then press "Ctrl" + "V." Windows copies the files from the desktop folder to the second SD Card.

9. Eject the SD card from the card reader. Delete the "temp_copy" folder on the Windows desktop.
