Make A Video To Rca Adapter

With the spread of ever more complex and powerful computer game consoles, DVDs, VCRs and other video devices, higher-quality video output has become the norm. The popular S-Video output, frequently found on gaming consoles, computers and many video playback devices requires a special S-VHS cable to carry the signal. But what if your television only has a cable connector and RCA audio/video connectors? What's a gamer to do?

Instructions

Converting S-Video to RCA

1. Buy an S-VHS to RCA adapter patch cable long enough to reach from your S-VHS device to your television. Get one with the same number of pins on the S-Video plug as are on your device's S-VHS output plug. Most have four; some have up to seven.

2. Make sure you have two RCA audio patch cords (usually red and white) of sufficient length to reach from your system's RCA audio out connectors to the television. You'll want to hear the sound.

3. Connect the S-VHS adapter cord to your device's female S-Video output plug.

4. Attach the other end of the adapter cord (the one with the RCA male connector) to the yellow "video" plug-in that is one of the RCA three-connector sets of plug-ins marked "In" or "Input" on the back of the television. Note which number the input you select is marked (1, 2, or 3 usually).

5. Attach the red RCA audio cord from the red output RCA connector on your device to the red RCA audio input in the same three-connector set where you plugged in the video adapter cord on the back of the TV.

6. Attach the white RCA audio cord from the white output RCA connector on your device to the white RCA audio input in the same three-connector set where you plugged in the video adapter cord.

7. Remember the number of the input you plugged the RCA plugs into in order to view the image. Use your remote to turn on the TV and select the video input using the "video" or "input" button. Select the input number that matches where you plugged in your device. You should see a nice clear image.
