Nextel cell phones can be tricky to navigate at first. Many require you to set up a text plan in order to send messages on your phone, although you can receive messages without a text plan. Once you have added a text message plan to your cell phone plan, you can begin to send messages any time you would like without having to visit the Nextel website to send your messages.
Instructions
1. Locate the "Text Messaging" main menu on your Nextel phone.
2. Scroll down to the "Send Messages" tab.
3. Press the "OK" button. If the button does not say "OK" on your particular phone, look for the button that looks like a small circle with a dot in the center and "OK" located above it.
4. Type in the 10-digit number or email address of the person you wish to text, then press "OK." If you do not know the number or email address, select "My List" to view your contacts. Scroll to the contact you wish to select, then press "OK."
5. Enter your message into the text field.
6. Select "Send" when you have finished your message.
