Copy A Sony Dvd Camcorder Disc

Large video files may be transferred to more than one disc.

Copying video files recorded from a Sony DVD camcorder to another disc for backup or to give to family members is possible with the use of a home computer and CD or DVD disc drive. Once the files have been transferred, the user can create several copies of the footage to distribute to others or to use for future video projects.

Instructions

1. Finalize the DVD disc inside the camcorder. Connect the "AC Adapter" into the "DC Input" located on the back of the camcorder, on the upper left side, above the strap. Turn the camcorder on and select the "P-Menu" button on the LCD screen, then "Finalize" on the next screen that appears.

2. Press the "OK" button to finalize the disc. Press the "Yes" button on the first screen, then "Yes" again on the second screen that appears. The disc will begin to finalize. Remove the disc once the screen reads "Completed."

3. Create a folder on your computer's desktop for the video files. Right-click on the mouse and select "New" from the window that appears, then "Folder." A new folder will appear on the desktop. Double-click to highlight the text below the folder and name it. Double-click on the folder to open it.

4. Place the DVD disc into the computer DVD-R or CD-R disc drive in the tower. Press the button that sits below the driver door to open the drive. Place the mini DVD into the disc carrier and press the button again to close it. Allow the disc to load.

5. Click on the "Start" menu in the task bar located at the bottom or top of the screen and select "Computer." A new window will appear showing the hard drive and external drives connected to the computer. Click on the DVD icon in the screen to open the disc and view the contents of it. Restore the screen by selecting the button at the top corner of the window with two small overlapping boxes.

6. Select the files to be transferred. Press the "Control" key on the keyboard, then the "A" key. All of the files will automatically highlight. Once highlighted, drag the files into the open desktop folder window. The files will copy into the desktop folder. Close the "Computer" window once the files have been transferred.

7. Put a blank DVD-R or CD-R disc into the disc drive. A message will appear in a window asking to "Burn To Disc" or "Burn DVD." Select your option of choice. A new screen will open, where you can choose the recording speed.

8. Choose the speed desired in the drop-down menu and click the "Next" button at the bottom of the window. The files will copy. Select "Finished" to close the window or "Burn Another Disc" to make another copy.
