Install A Gsm Chip In An Iphone 3g

Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) is a standard used by cellular service providers. In the United States, as of 2010, the major GSM cellular service providers have been AT&T Wireless and T-Mobile, and the iPhone has sold exclusively on the AT&T Wireless network. Changes are expected as Verizon joined the GSM board in June 2010 and will carry iPhones starting in 2011. A unique attribute of GSM cellular phones is that they have a Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) card, otherwise known as a GSM chip. A SIM card is used by the cellular service provider to identify the subscriber. The iPhone requires a SIM card to operate on a cellular network and you can install the GSM chip in your phone.

Instructions

1. Power off your iPhone.

2. Bend a paperclip so that one of the ends is exposed.

3. Insert and push the paperclip into the small hole located next to the headphone jack on your iPhone. Once inserted into the hole, the iPhone's SIM card tray will pop out slightly.

4. Remove the SIM card tray using your fingers by gently pulling the tray out of the iPhone.

5. Place the SIM card in the SIM card tray. The SIM card will fit in the tray in only one direction.

6. Reinsert the SIM card tray with the SIM card into the slot at the top of your iPhone.

7. Power on your iPhone. The GSM chip is now installed on your iPhone.
