The Samsung Instinct phone, exclusive to the Sprint network, is capable of using a microSD card for additional storage. Only microSD cards fit: SD and miniSD cards are both too large for the slot in this phone. Samsung does not recommend the use of microSDHC cards for the Instinct, either. You can use your phone or your computer to view the files you have stored on your card.
Samsung Instinct Storage
Your Samsung Instinct came from the factory with a 2GB microSD storage card, as well as an adapter to make microSD cards fit into the larger slots intended for SD cards. You can use other microSD cards with your Samsung Instinct, but Samsung recommends that the cards be no larger than 2GB.
Viewing Your Files
Attach the USB cable that came with your Instinct to both the phone and your computer. Your phone should show up as an external USB device when you look at active devices attached to your computer. Click the icon for your phone. You can then view all the files you've got saved on your Instinct's microSD card. If you have a computer that has an SD card slot, you can also use the microSD card adapter that came with your phone to view the files. Simply remove the microSD card from your Instinct, plug it carefully into the adapter, and push it into the SD card slot on your computer. If you don't have a computer with a built-in SD card slot, you can also use an external SD card reader to accomplish this task.
Moving Files Back and Forth
The Samsung Instinct allows you to drag and drop files to and from the microSD memory card. For example, if you want to store MP3s on your memory card, you can simply drag them from wherever you've stored them on your computer to the Music folder on your microSD card. If you've accidentally deleted an MP3 from your computer but have it on your microSD card, you can drag and drop it that way, too. To delete files, simply right-click and choose "Move to trash."
Considerations
Since the Samsung Instinct functions as a USB mass storage device, you can store any files you want on the Instinct's microSD card -- even if the Instinct can't access them directly. For example, if you're working on an important school or work project and realize you don't have any way to back it up, but you have your Instinct with you, simply plug the USB cable in and save the project files on the microSD card. As long as your project isn't too big to use the available space on the memory card, this will work. You can transfer it later to wherever you normally back up your files.
