Converting an indoor security camera into an outdoor camera is as simple as weather-proofing it. The most dangerous enemies of outdoor electronics are the natural elements, with rain being capable of destroying electronic devices. Luckily, with a few materials you can find lying around your house, you can protect your camera from these elements, essentially making an indoor camera suited for outdoors.

Outdoor Camera Conversion
1. Slip the camera into the heavy duty trash bag.
2. Cut a small hole in the trash bag.
3. Poke the lens through the hole in the bag.
4. Slip the open sandwich bag over the exposed lens and stretch it tightly over the glass, alleviating any wrinkles, and tape it around the lens so that it stays on.
5. Cut more holes in the trashbag for any cables or wires going to or from the camera.
6. Tighten the bag around the camera and cut off any loose plastic.
7. Wrap rubber bands over the camera to keep the plastic on. You have now shielded your camera from rain or snow.
8. Extreme temperatures can also be a major problem when dealing with cameras outdoors, as extreme heat can cause solder to crack and the internals to melt while on the same accord, extreme cold can restrict current movement throughout the camera, with both cases causing extreme malfunction. To keep your camera cooler, try wrapping it in a thin, white fabric so that it does not absorb as much heat. To keep the camera warm, special pads can be purchased, like the Polar Mitten, which is designed to keep the cameras warm, or you can simply wrap them in thick cloth.
