Install An Operating System On A Pda

You use your PDA for everything from reading email to tracking appointments to storing important addresses and phone numbers. If you want to try some other things with it now, you can adjust your PDA with another operating system.

Instructions

1. Proclaim yourself a hacker. There's not a very user-friendly way of installing a new operating system on your PDA.

2. Log onto the XDA-Developers forum and find your PDA in the list (see Resources below). The highlighted names are not necessarily the names your cell phone provider calls them. There's a forum dedicated to each PDA, including functionality, upgrades and accessories. Click on the link with the name of your PDA and "Upgrading etc."

3. Look through the forum threads to read the different Read Only Memory (ROM) options people have put together already. Decide if you want to use one of their systems or if you want to build a new ROM yourself.

4. Back up your files from your PDA onto your computer before you do anything to change the operating system.

5. Take the plunge and follow the instructions someone left for your chosen ROM on the forum website.
