The BlackBerry Pearl (including both the 8100 Series and the Pearl Flip 8220) is one of the flagship smartphone models by manufacturer Research In Motion (RIM). One of the main features of the BlackBerry Pearl is its ability to surf the Web using a proprietary built-in Web browser. Individuals may access the Internet through either a wireless Internet connection (WiFi) or through the BlackBerry's cellular network connection (EDGE-based). Learn use the Internet on a BlackBerry Pearl to increase your productivity and stay connected to work, friends and family.
Instructions
1. Turn on the BlackBerry Pearl. The Pearl does not have a dedicated power switch. Instead, you may activate it by clicking on the red phone icon, or by pressing on the circular navigational button in the middle of the keypad (the "pearl").
2. Click on the circular "pearl" button in the keypad to navigate through the Home screen on the BlackBerry. Roll the selection cursor over the BlackBerry browser and click it by pressing down on the pearl. This launches the proprietary, built-in BlackBerry Internet browser.
3. Select one of the bookmarked pages in the BlackBerry Browser (e.g. Google.com). Conversely, you may enter in a different Internet URL by using the QWERTY-based keypad on the BlackBerry handset. After typing in a website address, click on "Go."
4. Determine whether you wish to access a mobile or desktop-style version of the website. If a website has a mobile version, the BlackBerry browser will typically redirect you to this version. The BlackBerry browser can also display Web pages in either "Column View" or "Page View." You may toggle between the two views using the right-hand keypad and the center pearl button.
5. Check the available Internet connectivity options in the area if you are having difficulty accessing a website using the BlackBerry Pearl. The smartphone can either access the Internet using 802.11b or the newer 802.11g wireless Internet standards. If there is no wireless Internet, the BlackBerry Pearl can use its cellular network to access and download Web content. If you are outside of a cellular service area and do not have an available, open wireless Internet network, your Internet connection will cease to work.
