Organize Songs On An Ipod

The iPod is a digital media player that allows its user to store a massive library of music, picture and video files in a small portable device. The ability to have over a thousand CD's of music in your pocket is one thing; but the ability to have all of this information organized into personalized category settings is what really made the iPod stand out in the field of handheld media players. The secret to iPod's success is the incorporation of iTunes. With iTunes, you are able to organize your music by artist, album, genre, favorites and a host of other category themes. Here are some steps to organize songs on an iPod.

Instructions

1. Aquire iTunes. iTunes can be aquired through Apple's Web site, as well a number of iPod partnering Web sites. iTunes is the media library application that is designed to be compatible with your iPod, so it is the best application for the job.

2. Add music. The easiest way to add music files to your digital library is to download them. Downloading can be done legally from a number of different file sharing applications. However, to ensure that your files are compliant with your iPod, it is safest to download songs directly from iTunes.

3. Organize your playlists. iTunes allows you to organize as many playlists as you see fit. You can organize music files into playlists for any situation, mood, or genre without removing the file or changing its location on your hard disk. You can create an iTunes playlist by clicking the "Add" button, typing in a name for the playlist, and then dragging songs into the playlist.

4. Upload music files and playlists to the iPod. Your iPod will automatically update itself to match its library with your PC's iTunes library. Playlist configurations will also automatically transfer over to your iPod once it is connected to your PC. The cord needed for this step depends largely on the generation of iPod you own. Earlier models utilized a special FireWire cord, while later generations have incorporated USB and more widely compatible connection formats.
