Freeware for Restore SD Cards
The SD in SD card stands for "Secure Digital." SD cards are used to safely store data like documents, videos and music. They come in a wide range of storage capacity, from 512 MG up to 32 GB. You can transfer the files stored on an SD card onto another portable storage device or onto your PC. Sometimes while transferring files, they can accidentally be deleted or lost. If this occurs, there are freeware programs you can use to retrieve the data from you SD card.
Instructions
1. Retrieve lost data from an SD card using File Recovery 4, freeware available to download online. After File Recovery 4 has downloaded, run the program. Insert your SD card into your laptop or desktop's SD card reader. Choose the SD card in the drive selection screen. The program will display a list of thumbnails of deleted items on the SD card. Pick the SD card files you want to recover and click the location you want to send them to.
2. Download Recuva, a freeware data recovery program, from the Internet. Push your SD card into the SD card reader in your computer. Run the Recuva program. Select the SD card when prompted to choose a drive. Recuva will automatically scan the SD card for deleted files and will display them as a list. Choose the SD card files you want to retrieve and click "Restore."
3. Use the data recovery program FileRestorePlus to recover deleted files from an SD card. Download FileRestorePlus for free online and run the program. Put your SD card into the reader on your computer. Choose the SD card from the drive selection menu, and the program will generate a list of files that have been deleted from the SD card. Highlight to select the files that you want to retrieve. The program will automatically restore the files and then close.
