You can use GPS-enabled mobile devices, such as Nexus One, iPhone and Droid to track your location with Google Earth Mobile. The mapping application has GPS tracking built into it, which allows you to look at 3-D terrain and satellite views of locations. If you own a Droid mobile device, you'll get better results if you use a Wi-Fi network connection to access Google Earth Mobile, instead of 3G, or another type of data connection.

Instructions

1. Enable a Wi-Fi network connection on your mobile device. Tap the "Menu" key and then, the "Settings" icon. Select the "Wireless & Settings" option and tap "Wi-Fi" to enable it. Select "Wi-Fi Settings" to connect to a network. Choose a network that you want to use and tap "Network Key." Enter your passkey information and tap the "Done" button.

2. Open the Web browser on your mobile device. Type the URL address, "m.google.com/earth", in the address locator box. Select the option "Install now" and follow the on-screen installation instructions. You can also use a computer with an active Internet connection to download and send "Google Earth" to your mobile device.

3. Look for the "Send To Phone" hyperlink on the website and click on it. A pop-up box will appear on your desktop. Type "m.google" in the field and press the "OK" button. Within a few minutes, you will receive a notification on your mobile device from Google Earth Mobile. After the installation is complete, look for the "Google Earth" icon on the home screen.

4. Place your finger over the "Google Earth" icon, and tap it to open the application. Check to make certain the "Look Around" icon is turned on. Locate the icon near the bottom-left corner of the screen and tap it. The color of the bar below the eye will turn green to indicate that it is working.

5. Use Google Earth Mobile to find your location. Tap the "Menu" button located near the bottom of screen. Select the "My Location" option from the menu. The built-in GPS tracking system will display a satellite image with a blue dot pointing to your exact location.

6. Use your finger to navigate, zoom in and zoom out on the satellite image by using the pinch movement. Place your index finger and thumb together on the screen, then move them further apart to increase the size of the satellite image, or closer together to decrease the size of the image.

7. Tap the "Menu" button again to search for a specific location. Select the "Search" option from the menu. Type a search term, such as a business name in the field box, and tap the "Search" button. To view additional information and photos about the location, tap the red or blue dot shown on the satellite image.
