For the human eye and mind, panoramic images often have more impact visually than more standard image formats. Photographers and painters have been using this effect for many years. 3D artists can also create compelling panoramic images, using software. If you would like to create your own 3D panoramas, a good program to use is Daz Studio. Daz Studio can import most 3D model formats like Wavefront OBJ and 3DS, which gives you access to a large number of terrain, plant and rock models. It also has the advantage of being freeware.
Instructions
1. Go to the Daz3D site and download the latest stable freeware version of Daz Studio. Install it to your computer. Next, go to Renderosity and search through their free area for any items you might want to use in your panorama. You will want at least one textured terrain and a number of plants. Download the ones you want to a folder on your hard drive.
2. Open Daz Studio. Click on the "Render" tab at the top and in the settings on the right change the "Dimensions" to "QTVR Panoramic." Click on the "Load" tab.
3. Select "File" and click "Import." Browse to find one of the models you downloaded and open it. It is best to start with the terrain model. Resize and position it in the scene.
4. Repeat Step 3, bringing in all the other models. Place them where you want the on the terrain. If your terrain has a grass texture on it, it is best to use any grass models you have in the foreground, since this will confine the less realistic grass to the far background.
5. Click on the "Render" tab again. Select the overall size you want the render panorama to be (but leave the "Aspect Ratio" as it is. Select "Still Image." Click on the "Browse" button to name your file and choose the location you want to save tlo. Then click "Render" and your 3D panorama will be rendered and saved.
