Convert Cassette Music To Cd Rom

Converting cassette music to a CD-ROM requires an analog-to-digital converter built into the sound cards of modern computers to process the signal from a tape deck into the computer, where the music files can then be burned to a disc. Getting those old tunes from a cassette onto a disc is a great rainy-afternoon project to breathe new life into your music collection.

Instructions

1. Connect RCA audio cables to the playback or output jacks on the back of the cassette player. The red cable plugs into the right audio jack and the white cable plugs into the left.

2. Connect the two plugs to an RCA mini-plug adapter.

3. Connect the mini-plug to the input jack on the sound card of your computer, typically on the back of desktop computers and the left edge on laptops.

4. Wait for the computer to display the message "New Hardware Detected."

5. Launch the media software on your computer, choose "New Folder" and create a name for the folder where you will store the cassette music.

6. Click the "Record" button on your computer's media player, which is typically a red button with a black circle inside.

7. Press "Play" on the cassette recorder.

8. Stop recording on the computer and create a new file for each selection on the cassette if you wish to be able to rearrange music tracks on the CD you will create later.

9. Insert a blank, recordable CD when you are finished transferring cassette music to the computer.

10. Launch the media player on the computer and open the folder you created for storing the cassette music.

11. Click on the "Burn Music" button or tab in the media player.

12. Click on the tracks you wish to burn to a CD and drag them to the burn list, which is on the right-hand side of the screen.

13. Press "Start Burn" to make your CD-ROM recording.
