If the headlights on your Audi A4 are cracked or damaged, you may want to replace the whole unit. Fortunately, assembling and installing the replacement headlight unit is a rather straightforward and simple task, thanks in part to the design of the Audi A4 front end: there are no extraneous parts to remove or specialty tools needed. Just a few fasteners hold in the headlight and these come out quickly. For this reason expect to spend less than half an hour assembling your Audi A4 headlight.
Instructions
1. Turn off your Audi A4 and prop open the hood.
2. Tape around the grille and fender on the side of the vehicle where you wish to assemble your new headlight to prevent scratching the paint.
3. Remove the three torx bit screws securing the current headlight to the headlight bracket. Two of these screws are on top of the assembly and one is lower down on the rear.
4. Disconnect the wiring harness from the rear of the headlight.
5. Pull straight up on the headlight to remove it from the bracket.
6. Open the rear cover of your replacement headlight and insert a new headlight bulb or the bulb from the old headlight. Replace the cover by twisting it clockwise.
7. Install the new headlight on the headlight bracket and secure it to the bracket with the three torx screws you removed earlier.
8. Connect the wiring harness on the rear of the new headlight and remove the tape from the front end of the Audi A4.
