Connect an iPhone to Microsoft Outlook 2007
With the iPhone the entire Internet is at you fingertips, but that doesn't help much if you keep your calendar and your contacts on your computer. If you want to connect your iPhone to Outlook 2007 in order to keep your calendar and contacts in sync, you'll be happy to know Apple did all it could to make this process painless for you. However, you won't be able to synchronize your email from your desktop to your iPhone--email is grabbed directly from the server. Still, setting up synchronization between Outlook and your iPhone is quite useful.
Instructions
1. Install iTunes (free download; see Resources) on your computer. It may seem odd to install a music program to synchronize your Outlook contacts and calendar, but Apple currently doesn't provide a way to synchronize the iPhone without iTunes.
2. Plug your iPhone into your computer. The phone will show up in the "Devices" section of iTunes. Click it, then click the "Info" tab.
3. Set iTunes to synchronize your iPhone from Outlook. In the "Contacts" section put a check mark next to "Sync contacts from" and pick "Outlook" from the drop-down menu. Under "Calendars" put a check mark next to "Sync calendars from" and select "Outlook."
4. Click "Apply." Your iPhone will automatically sync, taking your new settings into account. Your contacts and calendar are now synchronized.
