Change An Lnt Battery On A Meade

You too can see stars after changing your Meade LNT battery.

Meade Instruments has been making telescopes since 1972. Many of its models run off of two different types of battery: AA batteries placed on the ETX panel of the telescope and an LNT battery in the LNT module. Although LNT batteries have a relatively long life, they will eventually run out. Changing them is a simple process.

Instructions

1. Remove the two alignment screws on the LNT module. One is located on the top and the other on the side. Removing the screws will bring two springs out as well. Set these to one side.

2. The module will now open. Remove the top part and set it to one side. Take the old battery from the unit and replace it with the new battery, making sure that the battery markings are facing upward.

3. Put the top part of the module back on, and thread one of the springs through the top hole. Reinsert one alignment screw into the top hole and tighten it. Thread the second spring through the hole at the side of the module, and reinsert the second screw into it. Tighten this screw as well.

4. Turn the telescope back on. If you have successfully changed the battery, the clock will need resetting. Do this by pressing "Mode," "Object," "Set Up" and "Date."
