Pharos is a GPS device used in Microsoft Streets and Trips and Microsoft MapPoint. This device is connected to the USB port on your computer while you are using the above software applications. You may occasionally experience errors while configuring the Pharos GPS device on your computer. One of the ways to troubleshoot such errors is by updating the device drivers associated with Pharos. You will need administrative rights to complete this task.
Instructions
1. Connect your Pharos GPS device to a USB ports on your computer.
2. Close Microsoft Streets and Trips or Microsoft MapPoint if either is running.
3. Click the "Start" menu and type "Device Manager" (without quotes) in the search box. Press the "Enter" key to launch the utility. Type your administrator password or click "Continue" as prompted.
4. Scroll down the list of devices to locate the entry "Ports (COM & LPT)." Double-click to expand its contents.
5. Right-click "Microsoft USB GPS Port" and choose "Update Driver Software."
6. Follow the prompts to complete the driver update installation.
