Use an 8mm camcorder to play these small videocassettes on a connected TV.
Old 8mm videotapes are about the same size as an audio cassette and use similar technology to record an analog signal onto magnetic tape. The video cassettes work with 8mm camcorders, which are equipped with audio-video jacks for connection to a television set. Standard composite AV cables are needed to hook up an 8mm camcorder to a TV for watching tapes.
Instructions
1. Plug the white, red and yellow ends of the composite cables into the audio-video output jacks on the edge of the 8mm camcorder. If only two jacks are available, it means the camera records audio in mono, not stereo, so plug in the yellow and white cords to the camcorder's matching color jacks and leave the red cord free.
2. Connect the plugs on the other end of the AV cables to a set of input jacks on the back panel of the TV, matching the plug colors to the jacks.
3. Turn on the camcorder and TV, then slide the camcorder function switch to "Playback" from "Record." The switch is typically located near the AV cable jacks on the camera body.
4. Press the "Input" button on the TV until the camcorder signal appears on screen.
5. Load an 8mm cassette in the camcorder, close the tape door and press "Play" on the camcorder to watch the tape on TV.
