Troubleshoot Nec Ds1000/2000 Conference Calls

The DS1000 and DS2000 are lines of conference phone systems developed and marketed by NEC. They have been discontinued, replaced by the NEC DSX40, DSX80 and DSX160 series. NEC provides a set of troubleshooting techniques to resolve any issues with conference calls. Some of the issues are caused by improper setup or equipment malfunctioning.

Instructions

1. Check that the telephone line is properly connected to the telephone jack located underneath the base unit. A loose connection may result in no dial tone, interruptions during conference calls or a static noise in the background.

2. Reprogram the "Automatic Gain Control (AGC)" and "Automatic Level Control (ALC)" settings. Press and hold the "Redial/Prog" button until you see the program icon. Press the "8" button to enter the menu. Press the "Redial/Prog" button again. You will see the current setting flashing on the screen. Press "1" to turn on Automatic Gain Control (AGC) for the speaker and Automatic Level Control (ALC) for the microphone.

3. Restore your phone system to factory defaults if none of the above steps resolves the issue. Press and hold the "Redial/Prog" button until you see the program icon. Press and hold the "9" button. You will see the No. 8 on the screen. Press the "Redial/Prog" to confirm the restore. Press "Clear" to end the task.
