Unscrew A Coaxial Cable From Audiovisual Equipment

Have you ever needed to move your television or cable box, but run into a problem while unscrewing the coaxial cable from the often unreachable slot in the back? In this article, you'll learn disconnect your standard coaxial cable from your television or cable box without damaging your audio-visual equipment.

Instructions

1. You'll need to address your audio-visual equipment directly. Attempting to slip your hands behind the television or cable box may result in the bending of the coaxial cable, making it even more difficult to remove. Also, compromising the cable's tip may cause significant picture degradation when reapplied.

2. Unscrew the coaxial cable in a counter-clockwise motion. Remember, "right is tight and left is loose."

3. Begin to loosen the coaxial cable. If significant resistance occurs, make sure that you are unscrewing the cable without pulling to the left or right of the equipment. Any deviation will cause the cable to bend, as well as it make it more difficult to remove from the connecting port.

4. If your hands simple aren't doing the trick, grab those channel-lock pliers. Place the pliers around the hexagonal screw of the coaxial cable and give a firm twist.

5. Now that you've completed the removal of the coaxial cable, be sure to inspect the center core, making sure that you haven't compromised the connection.
