Waterproof A Nikon

Waterproof your camera with a plastic casing.

Nikon is a popular camera brand with a variety of models that are intended for both above and below water use. If you want to use your traditional camera underwater or in a wet environment, you can waterproof it with a plastic casing accessory. These specially-designed cases will seal your Nikon so you can shoot underwater and in wet conditions without any worry of damage to your camera. Those unfamiliar with waterproofing a camera will find the process easy to complete in just five minutes.

Instructions

1. Purchase a waterproof case from Nikon that is intended for use with your particular model camera. Using a case intended for a different Nikon camera can result in water damage.

2. Prepare your camera for use by inserting a charged battery and memory card.

3. Open the Nikon camera case and fit the camera into the case shutter first.

4. Check to ensure that O-ring is securely in place.

5. Close the back of the waterproof case over the back of your camera and secure the latch over the top. You will know that the latch is properly secured once you hear a "clicking" sound.

6. Submerge the camera in three inches of water and watch for air bubbles. Hold the camera underwater for three to five seconds and then remove it.

7. Check for water inside the case. If there isn't any water, you are prepared to shoot. If water has entered the case, repeat the procedure again, making sure that the O-ring is secure. Test the case once again before shooting.
