Troubleshoot An Rca Satellite Receiver

If your RCA Satellite Receiver's image or audio freezes, you get a blank screen or the device won't respond to commands from the remote control or front panel, first try rebooting the machine. If the reboot doesn't correct the issue, perform a system test to run basic diagnostics.

Instructions

1. Press and hold the "Power" button on the front of the box for at least five seconds.

2. If the problem is not fixed, unplug the satellite receiver for two minutes then plug it in again.

3. Test to see if this has corrected the problem. If not, run a system test. Turn on the TV and the satellite receiver.

4. Press the DIRECTV button to start the satellite receiver controlling the system and press the "Menu" button.

5. Select "System Startup" then "System Test." The system will try to identify trouble areas. Common trouble areas are related to the cables not being connected properly, the satellite dish not receiving a signal due to its positioning, the phone connection, or the access card.
