Buy A Cb Radio

Although not as popular as they once were, CB radios are still useful tools for communicating across short distances. Truck drivers often use CBs to relay directions, traffic congestion, accidents and more. If you're looking to purchase a CB radio, just follow these steps.

Instructions

1. Be prepared to spend more money for a higher quality radio. With proper maintenance, a good radio will last a long time.

2. Shop around. Visit several CB shops and browse online providers. There are many makes and models of CB radios out there. Take the time to find one suited to your specific needs. Besides the standard CB radio, there are also handset types with the controls located on the mic and hand held types that resemble walkie-talkies and can be taken out of your vehicle.

3. Remember to get an antenna if you don't already own one. A good antenna can make even a cheap CB radio perform better.

4. Buy a different mic to improve how you'll sound over the radio. Often, the mics that come with CB radios are of lower quality. But you can purchase a better one separately. While not entirely necessary, a good mic can definitely make you easier to understand.

5. Get set-up information from the CB shop where you purchase your radio. There are many differences between vehicles and how radios can be hooked up and mounted. The CB shop can show you exactly hook up your new radio, as well as tune it for you.

6. Learn the rules of CB radio use before you begin transmitting. Just listen for awhile to get a feel for how people communicate via CB.
