Repair A Flip Video

Flip Video users may experience a freezing LCD screen or other issues, such as computer incompatibility, outdated FlipShare software, Flip Video firmware issues and diminishing record time on the camera. If you have a computer with an active Internet connection, most of these issues can be corrected without assistance from Flip's customer support.

Instructions

1. Turn the Flip Video camera off. Remove the batteries from the device and leave them out of the battery tray for 60 seconds. Then reinsert the batteries and the camera will be reset. To reset or unfreeze the Flip Mino, hold down the "Power" button for 10 seconds.

2. Increase battery time in a Flip Video. Use high-quality alkaline or rechargeable batteries. Avoid using used or cheap batteries.

3. Regain the Flip video's record time. When you transfer videos to the computer, you may notice that instead of 60 clear record minutes, you now have 59:53. Windows may transfer a small file to the camera's memory when it is connected. Connect the Flip to the computer's USB port again, then click on the computer's Recycle Bin icon. Select "Empty Recycle Bin." Then disconnect your Flip and check the total record time.

4. Connect the Flip Video to a computer. Insert the builtin USB port on the camera into a high-powered 2.0 USB port. (You must be logged on as the computer's administrator.)

5. Fix the USB connection. The Flip MinoHD II has trouble physically connecting to the computer's USB port. Call customer support at 888-222-6689. A representative will further assist you.

6. Update the Flip Video software. Select either "Click here for Windows" or "Click here for Mac" option and allow the Flip Video firmware to save to your computer. Click "Setup_FlipShare.exe" and select "Yes" when prompted. Select "Install."

7. Upgrade the Flip Video camera's firmware. Open the FlipShare software on your computer. The software automatically begins downloading any available upgrade for the Flip Video from the Internet. Allow the upgrade to completely download. Connect the Flip Video camera to the computer's USB port. Click "Continue" in the "Updates Available" screen. Click "I Agree." Enter a name and password, if prompted. Click "OK." The software will update the camera's firmware.
