Flashing your Palm Treo is the process of updating the software that is used with the phone. If the device requires an update, the Desktop Updater program will need to be installed. The version of the program that is needed will depend on your carrier, such as Verizon, Sprint and AT&T. Installing the software update to your Palm Treo will require that you first connect the device to your computer.
Instructions
Verizon Software Update
1. Go to the Palm support page for the Updater 1.22 (Windows Installer) for Treo 700w/wx for Verizon.
2. Click the "Download" button and save the file to your desktop. Double-click the ZIP file to decompress the file.
3. Connect the Treo to your computer with the USB connector cable. Wait while the Treo is being synced to your computer. You should see the "Today" screen appear.
4. Double-click the folder on your desktop that contains the decompressed setup files.
5. Click the "Verizon1.2DesktopUpdater-rev1.exe" file to run the setup program. Follow the instructions on the screen to update your Treo. You will see a blue progress bar on the screen while the device is being updated.
6. Disconnect the Treo from the computer when you see an "Update Complete" message on the computer and an "Update was completed successfully" message on the Treo.
7. Take the battery out of the device and then put it back in. Turn on the Treo to perform a "soft reset" of the device.
Sprint Software Update
8. Go to the Palm support page for the Software Update 1.07 (Windows installer) for Treo 755p for Sprint.
9. Click the "Download" button and save the file to your desktop. Double-click the ZIP file to decompress the files.
10. Connect the Treo to your computer with the USB connector cable. Wait while the Treo is being synced to your computer.
11. Double-click the folder on your desktop that contains the decompressed setup files.
12. Click the "Treo755pSprintDesktopUpdater.exe" file to run the setup program. Follow the instructions on the screen to update your Treo. The phone will restart three different times during this process.
13. Click the "Finish" button when you see the Update Complete page appear on the screen.
AT&T Software Update
14. Go to the Palm support page for the Software Update 2.11 (Windows installer) for Treo 680 for AT&T.
15. Click the "Download" button and save the file to your desktop. Double-click the ZIP file to decompress the files.
16. Connect the Treo to your computer with the USB connector cable. Wait while the Treo is being synced to your computer.
17.Click the "Treo680ATTDesktopUpdater.exe" file to run the setup program. Follow the instructions on the screen to update your Treo. The phone will restart three different times during this process.
18. Press the "Center" button to select "English" when the Language Selection screen appears. Wait while the phone restarts.
19. Calibrate the touchscreen, with the stylus, to complete the update.
