Hook up a Canon E53 to a PC with composite cables.
The Canon E53 is an 8mm analog camcorder manufactured in the early 1990s for the consumer home video market. The camera uses standard 8mm videocassettes to record picture and sound. The outputs consist of a an RCA-type video jack and a mono audio jack using standard composite AV cables. The E53 can connect to a computer video card with a set of these cables. The PC must have video recording software installed to copy the footage and store it on the hard drive.
Instructions
1. Plug the yellow video cable and the white audio cable into the matching color AV jacks on the side of the Canon E53 by lifting the protective cover off the jacks with a thumbnail. The red audio cable is not used because the E53 records in mono.
2. Insert the yellow video plug on the other end of the cable into the "video IN" jack on the computer's video capture card located on the back of the computer.
3. Connect the white audio plug to the matching audio jack on the computer.
4. Turn on the Canon E53 and the computer. Launch the recording software by double-clicking the name of the program on the computer.
5. Play back an 8mm tape on the E53 by turning the slide switch on the camera to playback from record, then click the "Record" button on the computer software.
