BlackBerry phones are handy in many ways. Besides being a phone, a BlackBerry provides access to email, Internet, personal calendars and more, so the battery can wear down quickly. Learn to charge your BlackBerry on a computer and add just one more convenience to the device's already wonderfully long list of benefits.
Instructions
1. Make sure you have a computer with either a full power supply or one that connects directly to an outlet. The BlackBerry will eventually draw its charge from the computer, draining its power supply if limited.
2. Get a USB cord and make sure it fits securely into the BlackBerry and the computer slot.
3. Install the USB Drivers using Windows Update if you have not already done so. To check if you have drivers installed, look in the "Device Manager" folder by going to "My Computer" and right click to bring up a small sub-menu.
4. Choose "Properties" and click on the "Hardware Tab" where the first section is "Device Manager." Click the large button, find "Universal Serial Bus" controllers and verify that you have the driver installed.
5. Plug the BlackBerry into the USB cable, and then connect it to the computer. Wait for the computer to automatically detect that you connected a new device. If the driver isn't on the computer, it will ask if you would like to install the appropriate drivers.
6. Complete the installation of the drivers if necessary and leave the BlackBerry plugged into the computer. Check the screen and the battery icon for the lightening sign that indicates charge of power going to the BlackBerry.
