Memory cards can be used to store digital photographs.
Memory cards have replaced film as the most popular way to store photographs. Digital cameras now save pictures on these cards so that they can be uploaded to a computer or saved and passed around for friends and family to share. Transferring digital photographs from a computer to a memory card is an easy task that you can do with almost any computer, both PCs and Macs.
Instructions
1. Attach the external card reader to your computer with the USB cable if necessary. Some modern computers come with internal card readers, so you may be able to skip this step. Macs are less likely to have SD card slots than PCs and will require a reader.
2. Insert the card into the card reader. Most digital cameras today use SD cards, though you may also be using CF (compact flash) cards. A majority of card readers (both internal and external) can read both types.
3. Double click "Open to View Folder" to access the memory card's folder on a PC, where a window will pop up. This is where the digital media is stored. On a Mac, click "Removable Disk" on the window that pops up to access that card's folder.
4. Copy and paste the pictures from your computer into the memory card's folder. Give the unit a few seconds to transfer the photos. When finished, the pictures will be on the SD card and viewable on a digital camera or transferable to another computer.
