Cannon Rebel Tutorial

Canon's Rebel line of digital cameras has been the gateway into digital photography. The Rebel offered Individuals who wanted a camera with more features than a point-and-shoot digital camera. Single lens reflex cameras also afford the ability to expand their system by purchasing different lenses and other accessories including external flash. As of 2010, there have been a number of different models released over the product's lifespan, and it appears the Rebel line will continue in the future.

Instructions

1. Install a charged battery into your Canon Rebel by holding the camera upside down in your left and. On the bottom of the grip portion of the camera body you will see a latch to open the battery compartment. Insert the battery here and close the door. Open the memory card door on the grip side of the camera. Insert a compact flash memory card and close the door.

2. Turn the camera on by sliding the power switch located on the top of camera to on. Just next to the power switch is the exposure mode dial. The modes are broken down into "Basic" zones identified by icons and "Creative" modes represented by letters. Selecting a basic zone exposure mode will program the camera to make all the decisions regarding aperture, shutter speed and ISO (light sensitivity) settings for the best picture for the mode selected. A creative zone selection gives the photographer more control over those decisions.

3. Hold the camera correctly by placing your left hand under the lens and your right hand on the grip. Position the camera to your eye, compose your picture and press the silver shutter release button on the top the built-in grip.

4. Press the button with the blue triangle icon to review the picture(s) you have just taken. Some of the buttons on the Canon Digital Rebel serve two functions. These buttons will have a white icon and blue icon. The white icon indicates the buttons function when using the camera to take a picture. The blue icon indicates the function the button performs when you are reviewing pictures.

5. Press the shutter release to put the camera back into shooting mode, and you are ready to take more pictures.
