Install Electronic Picture Frames

Electronic picture frames have revolutionized the way we display photos. At grandma's house, those photo frames lining the shelves remained unchanged for decades. With electronic picture frames, hundreds of images can be installed on a single frame and set to display a slideshow that offers constant variation. Installing digital images on an electronic picture frame takes only a few minutes.

Instructions

1. Turn on the electronic frame by sliding the "on" switch on the side or back of the unit, and connect the device with a USB cable to your computer, digital camera, memory stick, or flash drive--whichever holds the digital photos you want to install on the frame. The USB port is usually on the side of the picture frame, but some models may have the connection on the back.

2. Select the photos you want to install by choosing either individual images or an entire folder of photos. Inspect the photos on your digital camera by sliding the function switch to the stored photos and using the select button on the camera to choose each picture. Select photos on your computer by opening the pictures folder that you want to look at from your hard drive and using your mouse or touchpad to highlight each photo you want to transfer to the picture frame.

3. Press the download button on your electronic picture frame to install your selected photos. The download button is typically on the side of the frame near the USB port, but some picture frames will have the control buttons on the back of the frame. Digital photo frames are designed to be plug and play and user friendly, meaning the frame will transfer photos from your camera or computer with the touch of a button. The download button will be clearly labeled on the frame. You will be prompted to press the button a second time to begin the download.

Some frames offer single-button downloads, and others require you to follow a short list of procedures that involve pressing one or two buttons to start the download. It depends on the model. Either way, it's not complicated.

4. Disconnect the USB cable from your electronic frame when you have finished installing photos.

5. Set the display control on your frame to display either a single image or a slideshow of all the pictures you have selected. The display control is clearly labeled on most frames as a push button. Push the button once for a single photo to be displayed constantly whenever the frame is turned on. Push the button twice to launch a slideshow of all photos stored on the frame. Some frames also come with a delay feature so you can set the length of time an image is displayed before it dissolves to the next photo. The more expensive digital frames allow you to create slides, wipes, fades, dissolves, and various patterns when transitioning from one photo to the next. These features will appear onscreen when you push the fade button and select the transition you prefer from the menu.

Some high-end frames also come with a remote control that allows you to change the settings from anywhere in the room.
