Get Rid Of A Shadow In Photoshop

An image editor can help you fix dark areas in an image.

Removing shadows from an image in Adobe Photoshop can brighten dark areas and make them glow. The highlights/shadows feature helps you correct problem areas within a photograph. This is especially helpful if you didn't have enough lighting when you took a picture. Sometimes shadows are applied intentionally with drop shadow or inner shadow to make elements more distinct. Drop shadow and inner shadows are layer style effects that allow you to add shadowing within or outside an element.

Instructions

Image Adjustments

1. Click "File" and "Open" from the main Photoshop menu to display the Open dialog box. Double-click the image you want to fix.

2. Go to the "Image" menu. Click "Adjustments" and "Shadows/Highlights." The Shadows/Highlights dialog box opens.

3. Drag the slider for "Shadows" towards the left until the shadow is removed from your image. A preview of the effect displays on your image in the background. Click "OK" when you have the correct setting.

Layer Style Effects

4. Click "Window" and "Layers" in the main Photoshop menu or press "F7." The Layers palette displays.

5. Double-click the layer containing the shadow you want to remove in the Layers panel. You are directed to the Layer Style dialog box.

6. Remove the check mark from "Drop Shadow" and/or "Inner Shadow" and click "OK."
