Upload A Video From A Camcorder To The Computer

Transfer video to your computer lets you edit or share it.

Videos are easy to capture with a camcorder. In modern models, you have sound and high definition video capabilities. Once you've captured all the video you want, you need to transfer it from your camera's memory card in order to clear space for additional videos, and allow you to share it with others. You also might want to use software on the computer to edit the video, or even add effects. To transfer the video from your camcorder to your computer, you will need the USB cord that came with the camera or a replacement cord that you have purchased.

Instructions

1. Turn the computer on.

2. Turn the camera to the setting for transferring video files, if it has one, and then turn the camera off.

3. Plug the USB cord into the camera, and then plug the other end into a open USB port on the computer.

4. Turn the camera on. Your computer should notify you that it has detected a new device.

5. Follow the prompts to open the new device (the camera), or open the camera's included software and follow the prompts to open the camera's new video files.

6. Transfer the files to the computer by following the prompts to do so that the camera's software provides. If you do not have software for your camera, open a video file, and save the file to your computer's hard drive.
