The Canon 5D is capable of remote shooting.
The Canon EOS 5D is a mid-level DSLR camera. It offers the benefits of digital photography, such as instant photo review, while avoiding the high price tag of more advanced models. One of its features, the ability to shoot remotely from a computer, can be an extremely useful feature for a photographer working with composed shots. Remote shooting requires the EOS Utility, a program from Canon that can adjust the camera's settings and display a preview of the image before it's taken.
Instructions
1. Install the EOS Utility software from the CD-ROM included with your camera.
2. Turn off the camera and connect it to the computer using a USB cord. The USB port is located on the left side of the camera, beneath the rubber flap. Turn the camera on.
3. Open the EOS Utility application by opening the "Canon Utilities" folder within the main "Programs" folder (or "Applications" folder for a Mac).
4. Select the "Camera Settings/Remote Shooting" option from the main menu that appears. This will open the shooting settings panel.
5. Click the "Viewer Window Display" button, which is located on the bottom left of of the panel, to view your image from the camera.
6. Set the camera to your desired shooting mode by turning the dial on top of the camera. You can adjust the settings using the normal method or by clicking a corresponding setting in the panel.
7. Hover your mouse over the Camera icon to focus the camera. Click it to take a picture.
