Fix your Land Rover's CD player so that you can listen to your favorite albums on the road again.
If the CD player in your Land Rover stops working, or the sound quality is badly affected, it can be very frustrating. There are a number of things that can go wrong with it, so it's essential to try a few different remedies. Sometimes, however, the problem can be beyond your own expertise. In this case, you should take your car stereo to a car audio repair store and have an expert look at it, but not without trying some things yourself first.
Instructions
1. Remove the nuts and bolts that hold the trim panel (the panel that encases your CD player) to the dashboard of your Land Rover using a wrench. Pull off the dashboard trim; the CD player will be accessible.
2. Check all of the cable connections on the back of your CD player for any loose connections. Secure any loose cables that you discover.
3. Remove your CD unit by unscrewing the bolts with a wrench. Clean your CD player's inputs by pulling out the wires and spraying compressed air into the inputs; this will get rid of any dust or dirt that may be affecting the sound quality.
4. Clean the CD player's contacts, situated on the player and the receiver, using contact cleaner.
5. Clean the laser lens by applying some scratch-remover fluid to a lint-free cloth, and gently wiping the laser lens.
6. Check for any foreign objects in the draw/tray area of the CD player, such as pet hair. Clean the draw/tray area, and the area behind it, using a clean lint-free cloth.
