Instructions To Set Gc1018 Professional Metal Detector

The Gc 1018 professional metal detector is a device used to locate metal buried in the ground. The Gc 1018 sports a carbon-fiber lower shaft -- nylon connects the hardware to increase durability-- and features two detection modes. These are toggled on or off using an interface. The instrument detect all metals, but is frequently set to discriminate between different types of metal.

Instructions

All Metal Detection Mode

1. Adjust the volume of the reporting tones by turning the dial in the lower right of the function panel. Turning the dial to the left decreases volume. Turning it to the right increases volume.

2. Turn the "GND BAL" dial to the "P" setting. The "GND BAL" dial is found under "All Metal Mode." This balances the detection system.

3. Turn the dial labeled "Tune" to the "P" setting. This setting normalizes the sound coming from the speaker when the detector locates metal.

4. Turn the sensitivity dial to determine ease and selectiveness of metal detection. Turn the dial to the right to increase sensitivity; turn it to the left to decrease it. Higher sensitivity is recommended for areas where metal may be buried deeper underground. Low sensitivity is for scanning the surface.

Disc Discrimination mode.

5. Enable "disc" mode -- which discriminates between different types of metal -- by turning the "All Metal Mode" dials to the far left.

6. Turn the "Disc" dial to "0." Set the "Threshold" dial to "12.00."

7. Check the display meter to determine the type of metal you have detected. Ferrous metal will not be detected when using the disc discrimination mode.
