What To Do To Prepare Before A Photo Shoot

Arriving prepared will result in a successful photo shoot.

When arriving for a photo shoot, the most important thing to remember is to be professional. There are a number of ways to do this and make sure the photographer will be happy to work with you in the future. By making a checklist of things to do before hand, you can arrive on the day of the shoot like a true pro.

Consult with the Photographer Before Hand

It is important to work with the photographer and know what his vision of the photo shoot is before pitching yours. For instance, if you are planning on taking photos on a beach, don't just show up with jeans and a white t-shirt. The photographer may suggest different outfits and make-up choices depending on lighting, time of day, and color contrast.

Practice Before Hand

Practice with a mirror. In addition to seeing what poses and facial expressions best suit you, try different outfits and hairstyles that you like best. Do not only take one outfit you like or use only one face you like. Pick a few of your favorite poses and outfits to bring to the photo shoot. You can make adjustments per the photographer's suggestions during the shoot.

Make a Checklist

Make sure you bring everything you feel you may need. Bring your favorite make-up, outfits, accessories, jewelry and any thing else you feel you may need. No photographer wants to hear their subject say, "Wait, I forgot this. Can I run home and get it?" A checklist will help you to be completely prepared.
