Move A Bigscreen Tv Upstairs

Move a Big-Screen TV Upstairs

Big-screen televisions can be one of the most difficult items to move up a flight of stairs. These televisions are extremely heavy, generally expensive and will not survive a drop from more than a few inches off the ground. While simply having two people pick up the television might work if it is light, many big screens are too heavy to move large distances without a hand truck.

Instructions

1. Remove all the wires that you can from the back of the television. If the power cord does not come out, then tape it down to the back of the television so that it doesn't move at all.

2. Place a large blanket on the ground near the television.

3. Place each person on one end of the big-screen television and carefully lift it up. Then lower the television down on top of the blanket.

4. Use the blankets to wrap the television up so that it will be protected from any small dings that might happen during the move. It is recommended that you apply extra padding to the screen side.

5. Tilt the big screen television forward so that one end comes off the ground 1 or 2 inches.

6. Slide the appliance hand truck under the television. Wrap the hand truck straps around the television and pull them tight so that the TV is secure against the hand truck.

7. Pull the television up the stairs, one step at a time. One person should be on the step above the television pulling the hand truck up. The other person should be a step or two below the television both pushing it up and keeping it stable. The television and hand truck should stay slightly tilted during this entire process.
