Hook Up A Diplexer

Have you ever wanted to take two separate signals and have them travel to the same location using one wire? Diplexers are your answer. Diplexers are more than just passive combiners or splitters;they take two separate frequencies and allow them to travel along the same cable without interfering with each other. Diplexers are used by radio stations to take two signals to a single antenna. In this instance however, you will learn hook up a diplexer in your home for use with satellite TV service.


Satellite TV service offers a wider variety of channels and even offers various channels from around the world. Satellite service is great for out of market broadcasts but what if you want to watch local programming? You can get your local over the air (terrestrial) broadcast channels by using a diplexer with your satellite dish. Your satellite dish's LNB's will act as an antenna that will allow you to get both your terrestrial broadcast and your satellite broadcast. Get both your local programming and satellite service by hooking up a diplexer.








Instructions


1. Hook up an RG-6 cable from your satellite dish to the single end of the diplexer.


2. Attach an RG-6 cable to each of the two terminals on the opposite side of the diplexer.


3. Attach one of the RG-6 cable into the satellite input on your satellite receiver box.








4. Attach the other RG-6 cable into the antenna input on your satellite receiver box.


5. Take the fourth RG-6 cable and attach it to the output on the receiver box to the input on the television.
