While Chevrolet trucks are almost always equipped with speakers and a stereo when they leave the factory, it's quite common for people who care about audio quality to replace the factory speakers with aftermarket speakers that boast higher fidelity and improved performance. It's a cost-effective and sonically sound way to make your Chevrolet truck sound better.
Instructions
1. Pry out the door release trim with a small screwdriver. There are tabs holding the trim in place at four spots around the perimeter of the trim (roughly 2, 6, 9 and 12 o'clock). Work carefully to find and release each.
2. Pry up the plastic cover at the bottom of the armrest cup, then remove the two Phillips screws underneath.
3. Pry up and remove the power window switch plate. Start at the back and then do the edges. Disconnect the wiring plugs connected to it and remove.
4. Pry around the edges and bottom of the door panel to release the clips holding the door panel in place.
5. Slide the panel up and off of the door proper to remove it.
6. Release the speaker from the door by releasing the clip on the bracket that holds it in place. Disconnect the wires connected to the speaker and remove it.
7. Hold the new speaker in position in the door and mark spots where the tabs are located. Drill new holes in the door at those places, then connect the speaker to the speaker wiring, and screw it into place.
