You can set the General Preferences in iTunes to tailor some of the Default features to fit your own personal preferences. From the General Preferences panel you can adjust some of what you see while browsing for music, as well as how you see it.
Instructions
1. Start iTunes. Click the iTunes icon on your desktop, or open it from the list of programs in the Start menu.
2. Open the Preferences box. Windows users should click on the Edit menu located at the top of the screen and click Preferences. For Mac users, open the iTunes menu and choose Preferences. The General Preferences panel is the first displayed.
3. Change the font size for the text in the Source menu. Toward the top left of the General panel is a drop-down menu bar labeled Source Text. You can change the font size of the source text to either Small or Large.
4. Select the font size of the Song text. To the right of the Source Text menu bar is the Song Text drop-down menu bar. Likewise, your only two choices in font size are Small or Large.
5. Choose which category headings display in the Source menu. iTunes automatically displays the Party Shuffle, Radio, and Video categories in the Source menu. To hide any of the three, simply uncheck the box to the left of the name of each category by clicking it.
6. Change what appears in the Songs menu on the main screen. Genre and links to the iTunes music store are displayed on the iTunes main screen. Turn off these features by clicking the box to the right. The option to group compilations when browsing is not selected as default. Clicking the box for this feature will group things like soundtracks based on the album title instead of artist name.
7. Switch off the notification of available updates. iTunes automatically searches for new updates to the current version of iTunes. Uncheck the box to the right to turn off this feature.
